Aylostera patericalyx (F. Ritter) Mosti & Papini

This is a difficult species to obtain due to a great many misidentified plants being on the market. There are no illustrations in the original description and the description is ambiguous in parts. The name refers to a “bowl shaped” flower. Otherwise, the plant has small spherical stems, fine, white or whitish spines which bear very fine hairs (magnification needed!), white areole wool and red flowers. Regarded by some as a form of Aylostera spegazziniana.

The description is here.
