Description

Found by Walter Rausch west of Iscayachi, Tarija, Bolivia, at an altitude of 3600m. WR744 is the type plant for this species.

The name refers to the long dark central spine on this plant in the description, the plant being otherwise similar to to Aylostera steinmannii. However these young plants, grown from seed obtained from Succseed, do not (yet) show this characteristic.
