Description

Found by Friedrich Ritter between Tupiza and Impora, Mal Paso, Potosí, Bolivia.

Here is a species which, like many other Aylosteras, goes under several different names. The original name was Rebutia rosalbiflora, describing the flower colour. A. rosalbiflora is now regarded as a synonym of A. amblypetala. There are other plants we have in the collection, for example A. pallida and some forms of A. oculata (euanthema) and A. friedrichiana, which we are hard pushed to distinguish with this plant. Nevertheless the different field numbers / names were collected in different locations. Some authorities regard all of the multitude of forms and colours of these Aylosteras as lumped into a single species: Aylostera pygmaea.

Call it what you will- we call this pretty plant FR1115!
