Aylostera tropaeolipicta (F. Ritter) Mosti & Papini


It is difficult to find the true Aylostera tropaeolipicta, as there is widespread in the marketplace a pink-flowered A. eos form which is given this name, and the number FR1114. I don’t know how the mistake originally happened but the pink-flowered plant is not Aylostera tropaeolipicta, which has orange “nasturtium-coloured” flowers. The mistake is widespread and we have so far obtained the wrong plants from 5 different nurseries in Germany, Czechia and the UK, and have grown seed from suppliers in Sweden and France, all producing the wrong plants.
