Regarded by some as a form of Aylostera fiebrigii or A. spinosissima. A very attractive plant covered in dense, fine yellowish or brown-tipped short white spines, giving a soft and felt-like appearance. The flowers are orange and pink with white stigmas and style, and yellow anthers. Although described as forming globular clumps, with age it can form longer stems.
