Rebutia (Digitorebutia) albopectinata was first described by Walter Rausch in Kakteen und andere Sukkulenten 23:9, 236-7, the journal of the Deutsche Kakteen-Gesellschaft, in 1972.

Rebutia (Digitorebutia) albopectinata Rausch sp. nov.

Simplex, globosa, ad 15 mm diametiens, glauca, radice rapiformi; costis ad 16, rectis, perpendicularibus vel paulum tortis, in gibberes 1,5 mm longos dissolutis; areolis ovalibus, 1 mm longis et 1 mm inter se distantibus, albo- vel brunneo-tomentosis; aculeis marginalibus 13, 6 paribus et 1 deorsum directo, ad 3 mm longis, accumbentibus, corpus omnino tegentibus; aculeis centralibus 0-2, ad 1 mm longis, patentibus; aculeis omnibus albis, basi incrassata fuscis.

Floribus lateralibus, 50 mm longis et 45 mm diametientibus; ovario et receptaculo gracili roseo, squamis rubiginosis, pilis et setis albis tecto; phyllis perigonii exterioribus violaceo-roseis medio-viridi-striatis; phyllis perigonii interioribus rubris; fauce rosea fundo albo , filamentis roseis, stylo cum receptaculo connato, viridi , stigmatibus 5-7, viridibus.

Fructu globoso, 5 mm diametiente, viridi ad brunneo, pilis et setis albis tecto. Seminibus globosis, ca. 1 mm diometientibus, testa verrucosa, atro-nitida, tunica arillosa reliqua tecta, hilo basali, lato et micropyle valde eminente.

Patria: Bolivia apud Culpina, 3400 m alt.

Körper einzeln, kugelig, bis 15 mm∅ , graugrün mit rübenartiger Wurzel; Rippen bis 16, gerade senkrecht oder leicht gedreht in 1,5 mm große Höcker geteilt, Areolen oval, 1 mm lang und 1 mm entfernt, weiß- oder hellbraun filzig; Randdornen 13, in 6 Paare und einer nach unten, bis 3 mm lang, anliegend, den Körper ganz bedeckend, Mitteldorn 0-2, bis 1 mm lang, abstehend, alle Dornen weiß mit braunen, verdickten Fuß.

Blüte seitlich erscheinend, 50 mm lang und 45 mm ∅ , Fruchtknoten und Röhre rosa mit braunroten Schuppen, weißen Haaren und Borsten, Röhre schlank; äußere Blütenblätter violettrosa mit grünen Mittelstreifen, innere Blütenblätter rot, Schlund rosa mit weißen Grund, Staubfäden rosa, Griffel mit der Röhre verwachsen, grün, Narben 5-7, grün. Testa warzig, schwarz-glänzend mit Hautresten bedeckt, mit breitem, basalem Nabel und ausge- prägtem Mikropylarhügel.

Digitorebutia albopectinata bildet am Standort kleine, ganz dichte, weiße Körper, sie sieht Aylostera heliosa ähnlich, hat aber gerade herablaufende Rippen. Mit ihrer schlankröhrigen roten Blüte ist sie ein Beispiel für die Problematik der Abgrenzung von Aylostera und Digitorebutia.

Body solitary, spherical, up to 15 mm in  diameter, grey-green with a fat tap-root; up to 16 ribs, straight perpendicular or slightly twisted divided into tubercles 1.5mm long, areoles oval, 1 mm long and 1 mm apart, white or light brown tomentose; 13 radial spines, in 6 pairs and one downwards, up to 3 mm long, close fitting, completely covering the body, 0 – 2 central spines, up to 1 mm long, projecting, all spines white with brown, thickened base.

Flower appearing laterally, 50 mm long and 45 mm in diameter, ovary and flower tube pink with brown-red scales, white hair and bristles, tube slender; outer petals purplish-pink with green central stripes, inner petals red, throat pink with white base, anthers pink, styles fused to the tube, green, stigmas 5-7, green. Fruit spherical, 5 mm in diameter , green to light brown with white hairs and bristles. seed spherical, approx. 1 mm in diameter.

Seed warty, shiny black covered with remains of skin, with a broad basal hilum and a pronounced micropylar hump.

Digitorebutia albopectinata forms small, very dense, white bodies at the location, it looks similar to Aylostera heliosa, but has straight ribs. With its slender red flower, it is an example of the problem of distinguishing between Aylostera and Digitorebutia.
