The name provisionally given to plants growing in the same region as Weingartia augustinii, but growing on red quartz soil and rocks, tending towards being solitary (W. augustinii clumps profusely). There are two clear types; one with very small spines, and the other with stouter spines which stick out.

RH816 was found at Huanacuni Chico, Bolivia, at an altitude of 2,400m by Ralf Hillmann.
