Flowers!

We finished going through every plant’s spring inspection a week ago, and the plants are looking superb. At the moment (coming towards the end of May) the Aylostera and Rebutia are in full flower. The Weingartia are just really starting to come in to flower. Over the next 2 or 3 weeks there will be a change in colour in the greenhouses, from predominant reds, yellows, pinks and whites of the Aylostera & Rebutia, to the mauves, purples and violets (with a bit of yellow, red and white) of the Weingartia. We are about 2 or 3 weeks later than last year.

Normally I would say this is a really good time to visit the collection, but the next few weeks are going to be chaotic for us here. Plans are afoot to replace both greenhouses with a larger, single greenhouse. While this is happening the plants will all have to go into storage. On top of that we are having major structural work done to our kitchen and some windows. Hope everything goes smoothly! I’ll keep you posted on how the greenhouse progresses.
