Simplex, globosa ad brevi-cylindrica, 20 mm diametiens, atroviridis, radice napiformi; costis 10-11, expressis, recte adscendentibus, crenis transversis in gibberes 3 mm latos et 2 mm longos divisis; areolis ovalibus, 1 mm longis, alboad dilute-fuscotomentosis; aculeis marginalibus 11, ad 7 mm longis, tenuitersetosis, irregulariter arcuatis, vitreo-albis, basi dilute-fuscis; aculeo centrali 0.

Floribus lateralibus, 25 mm longis et 20 mm diametientibus; ovario et receptaculo flavo-viridi, squamis obscurefuscis et pilis albis tecto; phyllis perigonii exterioribus lanceolatis, roseis, medio-fusco-striatis; phyllis perigonii interioribus spathulatis, longe acuminatis, aurantiacis; fauce 16 mm longa, 6 mm eius cum stylo connata, albida ad rosea; filamentis dilute-roseis, sursum albidis, stylo et stigmatibus (6) flavido-viridibus.

Fructu globoso, atroviridi, pilis albis tecto. Seminibus Digitorebutiae typo, minoribus.

Patria: Bolivia, Potosi apud Cuchu Ingenio, 3 600 m alt.

Typus: Rausch 300 in Herbario Collections Plantarum Succulentarum Municipali Turicensi, Helvetia.

English translation

Single, spherical to short cylindrical, 20 mm diameter and with a tap root, 10-11 pronounced, straight rising ribs, divided by transverse notches into 3 mm wide and 2 mm long tubercles, dark to black green, areoles oval, 1 mm long, white to light brown felted, radial spines 11, up to 7 mm long, thin-bristled, irregularly curved, glassy white with a light brown base, no central spines.

Flowers appear laterally, 25 mm long and 20 mm diameter, ovary and tube light yellow-green with dark brown scales and white hairs, outer petals lanceolate, pink with brown central stripes, inner petals spatulate with a long tip, orange-red, throat 16 mm long, of which 6 mm fused with the style, whitish to pink, stamens light pink and whitish above, style and stigmas (6) yellowish green.

Fruit spherical, black-green with white hairs. Seed type like Digitorebutia, only smaller.

Habitat: Bolivia, Potosi near Cuchu Ingenio at 3600 m.

Type Rausch 300, deposited in the Zurich Municipal Succulent Plant Collection.
