Found above Cajas, Mendez, Tarija, Bolivia, at an altitude of 2000m by Friedrich Ritter. This is the type plant for this species.
Note that in the past the number WR769 has been wrongly applied to this species, and vice versa. WR769 is Rebutia senilis.
