Aylostera albiflora (F. Ritter & Buining) Backeb.


A very distinctive and easily recognisable species, forming mats and mounds of small round soft-spined stems, with white or pinkish white flowers. This species seems to cross readily with some other Aylostera and has been used to create a number of interesting cultivars.

The original collection of FR766a is the only one known for this species, with KK1956 thought to be later collected from the same area, a gorge of the Rio Playa, north-east of Tarija, Mendez Prov., Bolivia.
