Aylostera marieae (L. Fischer & Halda) Mosti & Papini

Regarded by some as yet another form of Aylostera pygmaea or of A. atrovirens. Aylostera marieae is large compared to other Aylostera. Superficially it bears resemblance to Aylostera atrovirens but differs from this in the presence of central spines and much larger purple-tinged flowers, as well as being larger in general. Found in Jujuy, Argentina. Found to be distinct enough to retain specific status by Mosti & Papini (2011).
